Do I need a visa to Syria?

All nationalities except Lebanese and Jordanian require visa to Syria. Tourists can get visa upon arrival but an initial visa approval is required before planning to visit Syria.

How can I apply for a visa to Syria?

You can choose to apply directly through the Syrian embassy in your country. However, it’s important to be aware of the lengthy processing time, which can take up to three months. Instead, Syrian Guides offers to manage the visa application process locally on your behalf at no cost. Our expedited service ensures your visa approval is typically ready within 1 to 3 working days for most of nationalities. As of 1 May 2024, for citizens of US, Serbia and Thailand, the visa approval takes up to 5 working days. Upon your arrival in Syria, you can conveniently settle the visa fees and get your passport stamped, ensuring a swift and seamless arrangement for your travel documentation.

Important For Dual Nationals Visiting Syria

Always use the same passport you used for your first visa application. If you present a different passport at the Syrian borders, the officer may not allow entry because it doesn’t match the one in the system. If you used a different passport for the initial visa application, you’ll need to apply for a visa again using that passport. Stick to the same passport when entering both Syria and the country before, whether Jordan or Lebanon. If the Syrian immigration officer doesn’t find your entry stamp for Lebanon or Jordan, they won’t give you an entry stamp for Syria. So, always use the same passport you used to enter Lebanon or Jordan.

How does the visa process go?

To assist with your visa application, we kindly request that you complete a form containing your personal details, along with uploading a photocopy of your passport and a personal passport-sized photo. Once your application is approved by the immigration department, we will notify you via email or WhatsApp. While the process typically takes 1-3 working days, for US citizens, it may extend to up to 5 working days. Flying directly to Syria’s Damascus International Airport is one of the ways to travel to Syria. However, it’s important to note that flight choices at the moment are limited due to the US and EU sanctions against the Syrian aviation sector. Alternatively, you can travel to Syria by land, either through Lebanon or Jordan. Border Crossing The Lebanese-Syrian borders are accessible 24 hours a day, providing continuous entry. In contrast, the Jordanian-Syrian borders open at 8 am and close at 6 pm. Please be aware that the majority of nationalities can obtain a visa to Lebanon at no cost However, entering Jordan requires a visa upon arrival, with a single-entry fee of approximately 60 USD.
